P-085 - 1875 Mother's Sunday Frock
This authentic antique reproduction doll looks like she just stepped out of
an old Renoir painting. Dresses of that time were form
fitting from shoulder to knee with all of the fullness and fussiness
condensed at the hem.
Known as a "curasse", our natural form fitting jacket is cleverly designed
in a summery pink and white stripe. A row of miniature
buttons and buttonhole loops close at the front. The hem of the jacket is
wrapped in a beautifully beribboned scarf edged in a row
of tiny tassels. A huge ribbon carnation gives a low bustle effect at the
derriere.
The underskirt is created in a cascade of lavish crochet lace layers that
trail elegantly at the back. Beautiful bubble stitches,
scallops and chevrons in alternating textures create a rich effect. The
costume is worked in bedspread weight threads.
Pattern includes dress with train, hat and hairstyle.
